Virtual Ergonomic Assessment
How does the Virtual Ergonomic Assessment Work?
Employees can request a virtual ergonomic (ergo) assessment by contacting the CIRA Risk Team at risk@cira-jpa.org.
After confirming the appointment, the employee must complete a virtual ergo self-evaluation form and include a few photos of the workspace. The completed form should be sent to the assigned evaluator or emailed to the CIRA Risk Team at risk@cira-jpa.org.
During the assessment, the Ergonomic Evaluator will review the employee’s workstation setup, ask questions to identify potential risks, and discuss any discomfort or postural issues. Recommendations will be provided based on the findings.
Ergonomic Assessment Tips
Preparing for an ergonomic office evaluation via telephone or videoconference is simple, yet highly beneficial. Here are some key reminders to ensure a smooth assessment:
- Have a tape measure available during the call to provide measurements such as desk height, seated elbow height, and other relevant dimensions.
- Measure the height (if not adjustable) and width of your desk.
- Have someone take 2-3 pictures of you working in your usual position.
- Make a note of any discomfort you are experiencing while working.
- While photos are optional, they can be very helpful.
- Including a video of your workstation is helpful, but please limit to under 1 minute.
Virtual Ergonomic Evaluation Report and Recommendations
Once the ergonomic assessment is compete, the evaluator will generate a report summarizing the identified risk factors, suggesting modifications to existing equipment, and providing recommendations for improved posture.
