Workers’ Compensation Program
The Workers’ Compensation (WC) Program provides coverage up to statutory limits per occurrence, including volunteer operations. CIRA self-funds up to $500,000, with losses exceeding this amount covered by Gray Insurance and Safety National.
Participants may choose deductible/self-insured retention (SIR) levels up to $350,000. CIRA ensures proactive claim oversight by collaborating closely with each member and the third-party claims administrator, LWP Administration.
LWP efficiently moves claims toward closure by securing aggressive medical treatment and facilitating return-to-work initiatives, enabling our members to retain productive employees with minimal impact on their organizations. Learn more about the Workers’ Compensation Claims Administration process.
CIRA also provides cost-effective, qualified defense counsel through the WC Defense Panel. This highly regarded panel includes attorneys with a proven track record in various areas of public entity defense, including law enforcement, civil rights, land use, and dangerous conditions of public property.
Return to Work
The primary purpose of a Return to Work (RTW) program is to enable eligible employees to return to the work force as soon as they are medically able. Experience shows that injured workers recover faster when they return to work. The longer an injured worker remains away from work, the more difficult it is to return. Returning to regular work usually occurs more quickly when modified duty is offered to the injured employee. An effective RTW program increases employee satisfaction and enhances the recovery process of employees who sustain an illness/injury while maximizing productivity and controlling indemnity costs. It is also beneficial for the employee’s physical and psychological well-being
