How does my organization Apply for Membership?

2024-10-09T03:42:48-07:00

CIRA membership is available to cities, towns, and public agencies engaged in providing municipal services. Participation in either the General Liability or Workers’ Compensation Program is mandatory, and all applications are subject to approval by CIRA’s Board of Directors and excess providers.

Entities interested in joining CIRA should download and complete the Application for Membership. The completed application must be submitted to CIRA along with the applicable underwriting fee and a loss report for each program applied for. Loss reports should encompass five years of data for all open and closed claims, including total incurred costs and reserves. The underwriting fee supports a thorough analysis, which includes on-site interviews and actuarial studies, and will be credited toward the first-year premium. The Safety & Loss Control Grant Program is designed to support members in enhancing employee safety and preventing general and employment liability losses through the acquisition of training, equipment, or services. We believe that proactive risk management in both the community and workplace allows each member to reduce net costs effectively. By minimizing claims costs, more resources become available for investment in other critical areas.
